Floor Maintenance for ESD applications. Click Here Slip Control Floor Care System - Deep Cleaning for most hard surface floors such as ceramic tile, natural stone, concrete, Vinyl (with modifications), etc. This system is designed to help prevent slips and falls on hard surface flooring, prevent/reduce re-contamination, and clean / recondition aged and neglected floors. The premise of this cleaning program is a floor that has been neglected and has one or all of the follow concerns: acrylic grout haze, epoxy grout haze, heavy dirt contamination, grease & oil, any other contamination. Deep Cleaning - Used for initial floor cleaning to remove all grease and slip causing contaminants. This procedure may not be needed, it is an on-site decision. It is for very "nasty" floor conditions, extremely difficult to remove contaminants such as standard grout residue, epoxy grout residue, oil and grease (organic/inorganic) and embedded contaminants. It is also used to restore old tile, eliminate imperfections, "peach fuzz", and stains on surfaces of new and old tile. *When in doubt of your floor conditions it is better to schedule this early procedure than to have to stop your Slip Control Program and reschedule people and equipment. Frequently, "Deep Cleaning" is automatically scheduled every 3 months to prevent build-up of contaminants. Contact Us for on-site consultations, training and products. Daily Cleaning Product Options:
Slip Control Floor Care System for Deep Cleaning and Daily MaintenanceEquipment Requirements: 1. Slow speed rotary scrubber (Approx. 17”) with brush 2. Wet/Dry Vac (must have soft flexible nozzle for picking up the cleaning solutions. Metal/plastic will not work properly This is very important and can cause failure in the clean up process) 3. Two mops. 4. Two Mop Buckets 5. Electrical extension cords 6. Black pads (match size to scrubber) 7. Turbo Fan. (For drying the floor) 8. Broom & dustpan. *Note: For small and confined areas where equipment is not practical or available, there are scrub brushes designed for hand use that will work very well. We want to let the chemicals do the major work. Chemical Requirements: (Our personal preference is gallon containers rather than 5-gal containers because they are easier to measure, pour, carry and store, however auto dispensing systems are available for the larger containers). Grout removal – Grout Stripper K9022. Generally it is helpful to test the area with several sample cleaners and make a selection if your conditions are not identifiable. Tech Support can assist. 1. Legg-Solve It® (item BPC8023) Working Solution: 1 part Legge-Solve It to 2 parts water. (Hot water is preferable if available). Discuss this selection with Tech Support. (Substitute Grout Stripper to remove grout haze) 2. Texspar® (item BPC9040) or Texspar® Plus. Pre test for suitability. Apply only what is required to clean the floor starting with one cup to 2-3 square feet and adjust to requirements. Do Not use more than necessary to minimize clean up time. Contact Tech Support for assistance in making this selection. Slip Control Chemical Options: 1. R20. UL Listed for Slip resistance. For Daily Maintenance with normal floor conditions. Initially mop on floor using 2-3 oz. per gallon of water (Working Solution) after the floor has been cleaned. For auto scrubbers use 1 oz per gallon of water. The best procedure is to apply Floorshine® products over an area, then return, scrub, and pick up. Do Not Rinse. When in doubt of your conditions, this is your best product to begin your slip control program. 2. DSR50 for applications involving grease and oil such as in commercial kitchens and walk ways to and from. Working Solution: Use 2-3 ounces product to 1 gallon of water. Mop the area clean and Do Not Rinse. 3. Floorshine® SR22 for applications that require more slip resistance. Working Solution: Use 2-3 ounces product to 1 gallon of water. Mop the area clean and Do Not Rinse. Personnel: Two people (minimum), one assigned to scrubber and another to apply cleaner and to pick-up used cleaning solution and rinse floor. Procedure: (Sweep floor area to be cleaned) 1. Identify starting and stopping points with regard to sources of power, water, and disposal areas to minimize walking on clean surface. Wear clean shoes that have not been exposed to contaminants and have non-slip soles. 2. Starting with an area of 100 SF or approximating a 10’ X 10’ area, apply cleaning solution with dwell time of 5-10 minutes. Let the chemical do the work by allowing it to lay on the surface for 5-10 minutes. If it begins to dry during that time, add more of your working solution. Do Not apply Texspar® until ready to begin cleaning, remembering to apply additional solution if your working solution begins to dry. This greatly assists in the cleaning and pick-up phase. 3. Apply Texspar® or Texspar® Plus at the rate of 2-3 cups per 2-3 SF and adjust down or up as needed. 4. Begin cleaning with the rotary scrubber slowly moving in parallel over lapping lines. Turn 90 degrees and clean again so all surface area and grout joints are cleaned twice. 5. Pick up solution immediately with wet/dry vac. 6. Rinse area and pick up with wet/dry vac. Repeat as needed until all solution is removed. 7. Use turbo fan on completed area and inspect area. 8. Repeat above steps making adjustments as needed with Texspar®. 9. Once the floor has dried, using a clean (new mop) mop floor with Floorshine®R20 2-3 oz per gallon of water. Do Not Rinse. This step will provide the much needed slip resistance, while helping protect the floor. Buff with a slow speed buffer or burnish to increase the shine and slip resistance. Slip Control System for Daily Maintenance in general public areas with hard surface flooring (tile, marble, granite, vinyl, wood, etc.) Day to day traffic and traffic patterns will dictate frequency of cleaning. Your maintenance and housekeeping staff can help in this decision. This process will help protect the floor from re-contamination and reduce slips and falls by increasing the surface coefficient of friction. Select your Floorshine ® Product. · Auto Scrubber – walk behind equipment. 1. Floorshine ® R20 - 1-2 ounce per gallon. 2. Remove black marks not picked up by auto scrubber using Floorshine®R20 2-3 ounces per gallon (adjust to needs) and a cleaning pad or brush. Do Not Rinse. Or Chose R22 for maximum slip control or DSR50 for Maximum slip resistance combined with oil & grease contamination. 3. Dilution ratios can be changed as needed but remember that more is NOT always better. Do Not do anything massive until you have tested the changes. It is easier to fix a small mistake than a large mistake 4. There is a more aggressive version of R20 designed as a degreaser that you can use if the need is there. (DSR50 for increased slip resistance). If contamination is such that you need to pick up the agitated chemicals then add 2-3 ounces to your rinse water and let it dry. Do Not Rinse. · Hand Mopping with Floorshine ® R20 or SR22 1. The floor should be swept of all dirt and debris. 2. Add 2 to 4 ounces to one gallon of water for normally soiled floors (estimated 4500 square feet of coverage per gallon). If heavily soiled or slippery, a higher concentration should be used. 3. Using a clean mop or walk thoroughly wet the area, agitate where needed (allow for dwell time), and pick up. 4. Do not rinse. You are finished. 5. There is a more aggressive version of R20 designed as a degreaser that you can use if the need is there. (SR22 and DSR 50)
*Spray Buffing - To increase the shine or repair scuffs, buff the area with a white or red nylon pad or a buffing brush while spraying with 6-ounces product to 26-ounces water in a spray bottle. R20 is also used for high speed burnishing. Particularly after re-finishing marble and granite. Special Note: High Speed Burnishing & Spray buffing has produced a 50-70% reduction in Slip Fall Incidents in some users of the Skid Lock™ products. Slip Resistant Floor Mats are prudent additions to areas constantly exposed to slip causing contaminants as well as slip-resistant shoes. *Contact Tech Support for complete details and procedures. 877-885-7527 |
